Business Law and Technology Course No: GBAT9124

Business Law and Technology provides an overview of the legal environment for and the legal regulation of business in Australia. It introduces the Australian legal system, alternative forms of business organisation and the legal framework of business regulation, and examines areas of law of particular relevance to business including business contracts and torts, restrictive trade practices and fair-trading, the protection and exploitation of intellectual property, and technology contracts

Bruce Gordon
BA (Political Science) (OSU), LLB (UNSW), Solicitor, Supreme Court of NSW and High Court of Australia

Bruce Gordon joined the School of Business Law and Taxation in 1986 from private practice. His primary teaching interests are in the areas of information technology law, in particular intellectual property protection and licensing of copyright and patents related to software, and contract formation over the internet. He teaches in the undergraduate course, Information Technology Law, and the graduate courses, E-Business and the Law and Technology, Information and the Law, all of which he conceived and developed. He is working on the development of a more generic postgraduate course related to intellectual property and a new course related to information technology for the MIS. His research interests are related to information technology, including the law related to intellectual property and consumer protection.
